Abstract:

Placebos are inert substances which are regularly used in medication studies as a comparison to study active drug effect and safety. However, the Placebo Effect and Nocebo Effect have a very long history in medicine, and have recently come to the fore as treatments in their own right.

Learning Objectives:

  1. To cover the concepts of Placebo Effect and Nocebo effect
  2. To present studies on the effectiveness and safety of Placebos
  3. To discuss why this might be important in your research
