Abstract:
There is an urgent need for identifying treatment that can prevent COVID-19 progression and reduce COVID-19-related morbidity and mortality. Emerging evidence suggests that patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 have abnormal coagulation, with greater abnormalities among those with more severe disease. In this presentation, we will describe our study that evaluated anticoagulant use and the risk of adverse outcomes among hospitalized COVID-19 patients from the Korean Nationalwide Healthcare Database. This will include a description of the practical and methodological challenges faced in the evaluation of the effectiveness and safety of treatments when conducting observational studies under the dynamic environment of the COVID-19 pandemic.
