Biography
I am currently a PhD student at the faculty of Pharmacy of the Université de Montréal. In 2015, I joined the research laboratory of Dr. Lucie Blais, who developed an internationally renowned expertise over the last 15 years in the pharmacoepidemiology of respiratory diseases and the analysis and construction of computerized drug claims databases. Prior to pursuing my PhD studies, I completed a specialized graduate degree in pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacoeconomics and worked for two years in a consulting firm specialized in pharmacoepidemiology and therapeutic risk management. I decided to pursue a doctoral education to broaden my research horizons, learn methods on how to efficiently implement research findings in the routine clinical setting, and bolster my understanding of drug safety and effectiveness.
My doctoral project consists of developing and validating electronic tools based on prescription refills to provide to physicians with an objective measure of their patients’ adherence and medication use in routine clinical practice. My research interests are centered around the prescription, use, safety, and effectiveness of medications of chronic diseases, with a particular focus on asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
