Biography

Benoit Cossette has been working as a pharmacist at the Centre hospitalier universitaire de Sherbrooke for the past 10 years, During those years he had the opportunity to work on the evaluation, in the hospital setting, of the safe use of: antibiotics in the context of a Clostridium difficile outbreak, anticoagulants, and insulin. Benoit completed (2010-14) a PhD in pharmacoepidemiology on the topic of the evaluation of the impact on perinatal outcomes of asthma medication use by pregnant asthmatic women. The PhD studies were conducted on Quebec’s provincial databases (medication and services) and on a hospital database. Benoit has completed a first postdoctoral year (2014-15) at the University of Sherbrooke and is currently starting (April 2015) another postdoctoral training at McMaster University. His postdoctoral research program is centered on the evaluation of medication prescription for the elderly with a focus on the development and evaluation of interventions to reduce the use of high-risk medication in that population.
