Biography

Jesse Elliott is a PhD student in the School of Epidemiology, Public Health and Preventive Medicine at the University of Ottawa, and is jointly supervised by Dr. George Wells and Dr. Tammy Clifford. Previously, Jesse completed her MSc in Epidemiology at the University of Ottawa, with a focus on systematic reviews and network meta-analyses. During her PhD work, Jesse plans to investigate the safety and effectiveness of a novel treatment for Dravet syndrome, a rare form of pediatric epilepsy. Dravet syndrome is generally non-responsive to conventional anti-epileptic drugs, and there is great interest in the use of alternative treatments. Her interests also include parental perceptions of the safety and effectiveness of such treatments and whether these are in line with published evidence.
