Biography

Shawna is currently a PhD student in the Experimental Medicine program at the University of British Columbia (UBC). She is under the supervision of Dr. Bruce Carleton at the Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy Innovations Programme (POPi) and the Canadian Pharmacogenomics Network for Drug Safety (CPNDS). Prior to pursuing her doctoral studies, Shawna was employed by the department of Medicine at UBC at the Cardiovascular Imaging Research Core Laboratory (CIRCL) where she worked for two years. Previously, she completed her MSc in the Neuroscience program at UBC and a BA and Honours Thesis in Cognitive Neuroscience at Simon Fraser University. Her current work focuses on optimizing chronic hepatitis C treatment using pharmacogenomics biomarkers.
