Biography

Faizan Khan completed his BSc at the University of Ottawa, where he is currently a MSc student in the Epidemiology program under the supervision of Dr. Marc Rodger. His academic interests are to further develop his understanding of the pathophysiology of Venous Thromboembolism (VTE), and to explore potentially safe, effective, inexpensive and simple pharmacotherapeutic approaches for treating and managing VTE patients. His current research is determining the cost-effectiveness of indefinite versus short-term anti-coagulant therapy for the prevention of recurrent thrombosis, in patients with an unprovoked VTE. This study will utilize decision analysis to hopefully clearly answer the question of optimal duration of anti-coagulation after completing short-term anticoagulants in unprovoked VTE patients.
